Our charities

Where the money has gone

Helping other charities help those in need is half our mission. These are the local organizations that have received our support, and the total we have put behind them.

Contributed to date

$728,300

The Community of Caring Hearts Charity has contributed $728,300 to the local community charities listed below. Our goal is to distribute 100% of the net proceeds from each event we host, and our administrative costs run under 1% of gross income.

The organizations we fund

The organizations we support

Funds raised from events and donations are allocated to local charities identified through a vetting process by our board. We look for organizations that are stable and operating with low operating costs.

Housing

Shiloh Place of McKinney

A two year residential program near downtown McKinney for single mothers and their children who are homeless or close to it. Housing, childcare, tuition, counseling, and life skills, all pointed at financial self sufficiency rather than a short stay.

A new sixteen unit campus opened in 2026, doubling how many families the program can carry at once.

Food security

Also delivers to seniors in low and fixed income housing and runs an empowerment center and a free boutique for household basics.

Peace and justice

The Monsignor Henry V. Petter Endowment Fund

A permanent endowment established in 2008 by a parishioner of the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, honoring Monsignor Petter’s peace and social justice work.

The fund makes grants to programs that advance justice and peace in Collin County and support families struggling against the structures around them. Its advisory board has been interfaith from the start.

Faith community

Adat Chaverim

Founded in early 1997 and still growing, with a membership that runs from singles to young families to senior members of the community. Interfaith couples and families are welcomed.

Its size creates an intimacy in worship and social life that larger congregations cannot offer, and immediate opportunities to get involved at every level.

Family support

Family Outreach Center of Collin County

How we choose

What earns a grant from us

We look for organizations where our support will make a significant difference, not organizations that will barely notice it.

What qualifies

  • Registered 501(c)(3) in good standing
  • Serving North Texas and our local community
  • Stable, with a track record our board can vet
  • Operating with low operating costs
  • Able to sustain the program after the grant period ends
  • Willing to share program outcomes with us annually

How to apply

Grants are sized against what our events actually raise. Charities are identified through a vetting process by the board, and we look for organizations that are stable and run on low operating costs.

Grant questions go to Laurel Grauff Caras, who handles grant information for the charity.

Every foursome moves that number

The $728,300 above is the sum of every tennis and golf tournament we have run since 2012. The 2027 tournament decides how much further it goes.

Play, sponsor, or give. All three end up in the same place.

Our goal is to distribute 100% of the net proceeds from every event we host to nonprofit organizations in our community. Administrative costs run under 1% of gross income, because nobody here draws a salary.
